The "Black Mafia Family" originated in Southwest Detroit, Michigan, and was founded by Demetrius "Meech" Flenory and his brother Terry "Southwest T." They began their rise in the streets by allegedly selling small amounts of crack cocaine during the 1980s. Moving weight and getting their weight up, BMF's family extended to Detroit, Michigan; Columbus, Macon and Atlanta, Georgia; Los Angeles, California; Miami, Fort Lauderdale and Orlando, Florida; St. Louis, Missouri; Greenville, South Carolina; Baton Rouge, Louisiana; Louisville, Kentucky and even Sinaloa, Mexico.
